Why Do You Need a Pinyin Table Tool

Hanyu Pinyin is the foundation of learning Mandarin and transcribing Chinese characters. Whether for children, foreigners learning Chinese, or adults correcting pronunciation, mastering initials, finals, whole syllables and the four tones is the first step. This tool presents all pinyin knowledge as interactive click-to-listen tables — see, hear and learn at once.

Core Features Explained

This tool includes:

1. 26-letter pinyin alphabet: each letter with its Chinese reading, clickable to hear.
2. Four-tone practice: the six simple vowels with all four tones (ā á ǎ à / ō ó ǒ ò...), with tone marks shown side by side.
3. Initials by articulation: 23 initials grouped by place of articulation (bilabial, labiodental, dental, retroflex, palatal, velar, zero initial).
4. Finals by group: 24 finals grouped into simple, compound, special, front-nasal and back-nasal.
5. Whole syllables: 16 syllables read as a whole, distinguishing flat tongue (z c s) and curled tongue (zh ch sh r).
6. Syllable table: 405 common syllables with search filter and click-to-listen.

How to Use the Pinyin Table

1. Browse the tables and click any pinyin or letter to hear the standard pronunciation.
2. Type pinyin (e.g. ba) in the syllable table search box to filter quickly.
3. Use the toolbar "Play all" for a full reading, or "Alphabet song" to sing along.
