About the Sphere Calculator
The sphere calculator is a web-based tool for computing the geometric properties of a sphere. Given any one parameter (radius, diameter, circumference, surface area, or volume), it automatically computes all the other related properties of the sphere.
How to Use the Sphere Calculator?
- Enter a known value: type the known sphere parameter in the "Input" text box, making sure it is a valid number (integer or decimal).
- Choose the parameter type: select the type of the input from the "Type" dropdown: radius R, diameter d, circumference C, surface area S, or volume V.
- Choose the unit: select the unit of the input from the "Unit" dropdown: millimeters (mm), centimeters (cm), decimeters (dm), or meters (m).
- Calculate: click the "Calculate" button, or press Enter on your keyboard.
- View the results: the results are shown in the corresponding boxes below: radius R, diameter d, volume V, surface area S, and circumference C.
Formulas
- Diameter = 2 × radius
- Circumference = 2 × π × radius
- Surface area = 4 × π × radius²
- Volume = (4/3) × π × radius³
Notes
- Make sure you enter a valid number, otherwise the tool shows an error.
- Surface area results carry the square unit symbol (²) and volume carries the cube unit symbol (³).
- All results are rounded to 6 decimal places for accuracy.
- Unit conversion is automatic, so all results use the same unit.
