About the Regular Prism Calculator
A regular prism is a geometric solid with two congruent regular polygons as bases and rectangular lateral faces. This calculator helps you quickly compute the geometric parameters of a regular prism, including volume, surface area, base area, lateral area, and the circumscribed and inscribed circle radii.
How to Use
- Enter the parameters: enter the following data at the top of the calculator:
- Number of sides (n): the number of sides of the regular polygon base (≥3; enter 3 for a triangle, 4 for a square).
- Base side length (a): the length of each side of the regular polygon (e.g., 5 cm).
- Prism height (h): the perpendicular height of the prism (e.g., 10 cm).
- Unit: choose the unit for the results (millimeters, centimeters, decimeters, meters).
- Calculate: click the "Calculate" button. The system automatically computes the following results.
Result Description
- Volume: the total volume of the prism (base area × height).
- Base area: the area of one regular polygon base.
- Area of both bases: the total area of the two bases.
- Lateral face area: the area of one rectangular lateral face.
- Lateral area: the total area of all rectangular lateral faces.
- Total surface area: the full area of the prism (two base areas + lateral area).
- Base perimeter: the perimeter of the regular polygon base.
- Interior angle / sum of interior angles / exterior angle: the measure of each interior angle, the sum of all interior angles, and each exterior angle of the regular polygon.
- Central angle: the angle at the center between two adjacent vertices of the regular polygon.
- Circumscribed circle radius: the radius of the circle circumscribed around the regular polygon.
- Inscribed circle radius: the radius of the circle inscribed in the regular polygon.
